Kansas City and St. Louis historic train trips planned in September

Midwest Rail Rangers is presenting train trips to Kansas City and St. Louis on the Hollywood Beach, a 1950s observation train car.
 
The first guided excursion is from Chicago to Kansas City, leaving Chicago on Sunday, Sept. 15, departing Union Station at 3 p.m. and arriving in Kansas City at 10 p.m. 

Interpretive guides will be aboard for most of the journey to offer stories about the towns the train passes through. Travelers will enjoy a meal and drink service for the duration of the 450-mile ride.  

A return trip is set for Saturday, Sept. 21, departing Kansas City at 7 a.m. and arriving in Chicago after 3 p.m. Tickets are $299 per person per trip.

 
On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Hollywood Beach observation coach will travel from Chicago to St. Louis, departing from Union Station at 9:25 a.m. and arriving at St. Louis Gateway Station at 3 p.m. 

Guides will share stories about the historic Illinois & Michigan Canal, Route 66, Illinois’ coal country and Abraham Lincoln’s legacy. The 284-mile trip includes meal service and beverages. The one-way trip is $249 per person.
