The annual street festival returns Sept. 8 with a full day of activities for all ages. Flossmoor Fest will take over the village’s downtown area and Flossmoor Park between 11:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.

The renowned Jesse White Tumblers will perform at 3 p.m. at Flossmoor Park.

A photo booth will be available from 4 to 7 p.m.

Flossmoor’s downtown dogs, which have been on display throughout the summer, will be auctioned off at the festival, with the proceeds going to the South Suburban Humane Society.

Opening ceremonies with Mayor Paul Braun and village trustees take place at 11:30 a.m. The Homewood-Flossmoor High School Viking Band will perform and will be followed throughout the day by choirs from local schools.

Free children’s activities will be available at Flossmoor Park between noon and 5 p.m. Annual favorites include the kiddie train, balloon animals, fair and pony rides and bounce houses. The video game truck will be at Flossmoor Fest from 3 to 8 p.m.

This year’s band lineup kicks off at 5 p.m. with Midwest Dueling Pianos, which offers an all-request show.

The Randolph Street Blues Band plays from 7 to 8 p.m. The band is headed by Jon Elfner, a Flossmoor Fest mainstay for many years. Elfner built his latest band around John Randolph.

Second Hand Soul Band will play from 8:30 to 10 p.m. The band appeared last year to rave reviews.

Food and drink booths will again be on the south end of the fest on Sterling Avenue near Flossmoor Road. Three establishments — Wiley’s Grill, The Bistro on Sterling and Flossmoor Station — will be selling beer and cocktails all day from a tent located along Central Drive south of the post office.
