Metra announces service interruption this weekend

Metra announced Monday that travel on the Electric Line will be affected this weekend by work on the 41st Street Bridge project that will require a seven-hour power shut down.

Several stations will be closed from 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, to 6 a.m. on  Sunday, Nov. 4, including Van Buren, Museum Campus, 18th Street, McCormick Place, 27th Street and 47th Street.

Designated CTA buses will be used for Metra trains 838/839 passengers traveling from 51st Street directly to Millennium Station and their return trips. Passengers will board the bus on the northeast corner of Lake Park Avenue and 51st Street and be bussed to Millennium Station.

On Sunday, passengers on train 839 from Millennium Station will be bussed from the southwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street to 51st Street where they will board train equipment awaiting at 51st Street.

Train 803 will depart Millennium Station 15 minutes late at 6:25 a.m. making all scheduled stops to University Park providing power has been restored.

The shutdown will allow removal of the metal support beam bridge from east to west over all four of our tracks as well as the Canadian National tracks.
