Home rule forum Feb. 25 hosted by League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters Homewood-Flossmoor area is hosting an informational meeting from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, addressing the Village of Homewood’s home rule proposal.

Homewood voters will consider the question in the March 20 election whether to approve home rule authority for the village. For more information about the issue, visit www.hfchronicle.com/tag/home-rule.

The meeting, at St. Paul Community Church, 18200 Dixie Highway, Homewood, will feature Michael T. Peddle, associate professor of public information in the School of Public and Global Affairs at Northern Illinois University.

Peddle’s expertise is in public finance, financial management, accounting and local economic development. He has extensive experience as a consultant to local governments on user fees and charges, revenue structure, impact fee, growth management, tax increment financing and consideration of home rule.

For 20 years, Peddle was senior faculty research associate at NIU’s Center for Governmental Studies. He has chaired the Finance Advisory Commission for the City of DeKalb. He received a PhD in economics from Northwestern University in 1984.
