District 153 awards tenure to 8 teachers

The District 153 Board of Education granted tenure to eight teachers who have completed four years of outstanding work in the district.
 
At its meeting Monday, April 9, the board said starting with the 2018-19 school year, these teachers will be tenured:
  • Margi Bolling, special education resource teacher/kindergarten at Willow School
  • Danielle Harrigan, special education resource teacher at Willow School   
  • Traci Frainey, fifth grade teacher at Churchill School
  • Nicole LaPorte, crisis intervention teacher at James Hart School
  • Ryan Robertson, second grade teacher at Willow School
  • Aleasa Williamson, third grade teacher at Churchill School 
  • Benjamin Packard, second grade teacher at Willow School
  • Colette Mlot, English Language Learner teacher at Willow School
The board also approved moving 20 teachers to second year, 12 teachers from second to third year and 12 teachers from third to fourth year on the tenure track.
 
The board also hired Rachel Shaw as a full-time school psychologist for the coming school year. She will serve Willow and Churchill School students. 
 
The board also moved its scheduled June meeting back to Monday, June 18, to meet accounting deadlines. The board meets at 7 p.m. at Hart School, 18220 Morgan Ave., Homewood.
